Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” (ESV)
Satan does one of three things with God’s word / wisdom.
1. Draws people in the opposite direction.
2. Confirms it’s good but just wait a little longer to implement it in your life.
3. Confirms it’s good, but takes it to its destructive extreme.
If he can trip you up here he can get you coming and going.
A. In response you can swing the pendulum too too far against Satan.
B. You can over exert yourself in the moment and burn out.
C. Completely deny that what God said is good is actually good.
And don’t we see all of that happening
If you buy into #1 you’ll end up doing A. When you wake up from A., you’ll go toward C.
If you buy into #2 you’ll end up doing B., and tend then toward A.
If you buy into #3 you’ll end up throwing the baby out with the bath water and buy into A.
No matter what – none of these ends up where God told His children to live.
