They Didn’t Get It—That’s on Me

Here’s Something to Think About…

Fallacy of the Week:
“If someone misunderstands me, I’ve failed to communicate well.”

What’s Really Happening:
We often carry the weight of both clarity and outcome—as if it’s our job not just to speak truthfully, but also to make sure it lands perfectly. That’s an exhausting (and impossible) standard.

A Better Way:
You are responsible for communicating with care and clarity—not for controlling how others receive it. Some people won’t get it. Some won’t agree. That’s not always a reflection of your failure—but of their readiness.

“You’re not responsible for how someone else receives your message—you’re responsible for delivering it with clarity and humility.”
Chapter 10: Let Go of the Outcome

📘 Chapter 10 of Awkward Communication gives you permission to release the pressure and speak with confidence—even when the outcome is uncertain.
